Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
This course teaches learners how to properly use specialised resuscitation equipment in accordance with the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC). It's intended for individuals who require this equipment in various settings, such as workplaces or communities.
Imagine a situation where someone suddenly collapses, and their life is at risk. Knowing basic CPR is crucial in such a scenario. However, some critical cases require more advanced techniques and specialised equipment, such as defibrillators and advanced airway management devices. Our course will equip you with the necessary skills to operate these tools confidently, empowering you to respond efficiently and effectively in critical situations.
What to expect
Who should attendAdvanced Resuscitation?
- Professionals in high-risk environments—Individuals working in environments with a higher potential for life-threatening emergencies also need advanced resuscitation skills. These may include construction workers, mining personnel, aircraft crew, search and rescue teams, and lifeguards.
- Healthcare professionals — Doctors, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare providers are responsible for delivering optimal patient care. Proficiency in advanced resuscitation techniques is imperative as it directly impacts patient outcomes.
- First responders—Police officers and firefighters often find themselves at the forefront of emergency situations. Advanced resuscitation training is crucial for them, as it allows them to make critical decisions and administer advanced care as first responders.

Certification and accreditation
What makes advanced resuscitation different from basic CPR?
Advanced resuscitation goes beyond basic CPR by incorporating specialised techniques and equipment. While CPR involves chest compressions and rescue breaths, advanced resuscitation covers more interventions, including the use of defibrillators, advanced airway management and medication administration.
What situations are advanced resuscitation skills applicable?
Advanced resuscitation can be a life-saving skill set in a wide range of critical scenarios. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Cardiac arrests
- Near-drowning incidents
- Drug overdoses
- Anaphylaxis shock or severe allergic reactions
- Trauma cases
- Complications during medical procedures
Essentially, advanced resuscitation equips you to respond effectively to life-threatening situations that demand immediate care, sometimes with the use of specialized equipment.
Can I take an advanced resuscitation course if I have no basic first aid training?
Our advanced resuscitation course caters to everyone, not just for medical professionals or emergency responders. However, we definitely recommend taking a basic first aid course so you can learn to apply medical interventions aside from resuscitation.
